The Bureau of Public Safety says it would be prudent for the speed limit on the Accra-Tema motorway to be reviewed by the relevant authorities.
According to the Bureau, the number of accidents recorded on the motorway in recent times would be reduced if motorists were compelled to decrease their driving speed.
This suggestion comes in response to the numerous accidents on the motorway, which have led to the loss of lives.
Speaking to Citi News, the Executive Secretary of the Bureau of Public Safety, Nana Yaw Akwada, indicated that settlements have been built close to the motorway, and therefore, the speed limits for drivers must be reassessed.
“With such a highway, it just makes sense that we have allowed settlements to go this close on an express route, we have to review road conditions, allowable speed, and types of vehicles that can even drive there, and all that. It’s just civil to do that,” the Executive Secretary of the Bureau of Public Safety suggested.
