Ghana needs truthful, respectful leader — Prof. Opoku-Agyemang

The running mate of John Mahama for the 2024 Presidential election, Professor Naana Jane Opoku- Agyemang, has urged Ghanaians to cast their votes and elect a leader who is honest and truthful.

She said former President Mahama had been tried and tested and had demonstrated to be truthful urging party faithful to elect him back into power.

Speaking during the launch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) campaign in Tamale last Saturday, she described Mr Mahama as “a kind of leader, who Ghanaians want.”

“Ghana needs a truthful and respectful leader in the person of John Dramani Mahama,” she stated. “We have tried him, he has reflected on what is going and he is coming up with new ideas.

We are very happy that Mahama did not give up on this country and that he is ready to put himself up to rescue, stabilise, and redeem this country,” she said.

The NDC Member of Parliament for Korle Klottey, Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, cautioned all agents of the party not to accept money that would come their way to stop monitoring the elections to allow for some underhand dealings to take place.

She said the NDC needed to win the election to protect the Ghana’s democracy hence the need to protect the ballot. She noted that the Akufo-Addo administration had been a failure and further accused the government of ‘blatant corruption”

Corruption has been presided over by this government,” she said.

Today we promise John Mahama that we will set the bar high with zero tolerance with respect to corruption. The people of Ghana hold NDC to the highest standards

“We must hold onto principles that can’t be bought with money, we must make sure none of our agents is bought,” she said. “Let’s protect the ballot boxes. Do not allow yourself to be misled by the money people will bring your way,” she said.
